An ode to swimming outdoors in the rain…

Scattering like seed pearls
across the glistening waves,
until they grow large enough to break
surface tension
and submit to the whole.
Falling out of the sky onto heads already wet
from the reservoir,
into laughing faces and eyes sparkling
with the joy of submersion.
We marvel at the one
and revel in the other,
forgetting already how we squealed
as they landed on our skin
before we got in.
